Cyber Security Associate

Location: Calverton Office

IMS supports multiple bioinformatics initiatives from government and commercial institutions in public health and medical research applications. IMS is looking for an entry-level Cyber Security Associate to coordinate the process to create, maintain, update, and enforce enterprise security documents. In this position, you will conduct technical interviews with subject matter experts, project managers, and other specialists and utilize the information provided to prepare security-related controls, documentation, policies, standards, baselines, guidelines, working instructions and procedures that comply with FISMA/FedRAMP criteria, departmental guidelines, and industry best practices. You will also conduct risk assessments, internal audits, and other processes to ensure compliance with the developed enterprise security documents. Tasks can also include creating documentation for new security solutions, reviewing software systems to assess and document compliance with FISMA/FedRAMP criteria, and assist with other cyber security related tasks.
 

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree from a U.S. Department of Education accredited institution in Cybersecurity or related field with at least a 3.2 GPA
  • 0-2 years of related experience
  • Experience with well-known information security-related tools
  • Knowledge of common attack methodologies, tactics, and protocols
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Knowledge of FISMA/FedRAMP or other security control framework preferred
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to relay technical information to clients and users in layman terms
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization skills
  • Must be able to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work within a team
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and security
  • Ability to maintain level-headed attitude and communicate with diplomacy and tact when addressing issues
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Strong presentation skills preferred
