Partner in Support of NCI's Division of Cancer Prevention

Since our founding in 1973, IMS has provided expert data management and processing, statistical analysis, and system development support for clinical trials and cancer prevention studies conducted by the NCI’s Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP).

Data Management

Data handling for large-scale trials and studies.

We provide data management including data validation, harmonization, quality assurance, and researcher analytic files for DCP's clinical research studies of widely varying size and design.

Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial

One of the largest cancer screening trials ever conducted, the PLCO study enrolled more than 150,000 participants. Its findings have helped shape cancer screening practices, and its data continue to support new research worldwide. IMS supports the ongoing use of the PLCO resource by providing research-ready data, documentation, and analytic files for investigators conducting studies of varying size and complexity.

Research Data Access Support

IMS management of DCP trial data, medical imaging, and biospecimen repositories directly supports cancer prevention research and scientific collaboration by making these resources available to the research community.

Trial Data Management

  • Data receipt and cleaning
  • Variable development
  • Data dictionaries and user guides

Medical Image Processing

  • Images classification following study protocols
  • Real-time inventory management
  • Anonymized/randomized image delivery

Biospecimen Data

  • Study and post-trial biospecimen inventory
  • Custom selections for sub-studies
  • Analytic file documentation

Distribution through the Cancer Data Access System (CDAS)

IMS developed the CDAS research platform, under contract with DCP, for users to request access to data, biospecimens, and medical images. CDAS facilitates submission of requests, application review workflows, and secure data delivery for approved projects.

Statistical Analysis

Analytical support for trials, publications, and presentations.

IMS delivers expert analytic support and develops algorithms and software solutions that advance DCP initiatives.

Statistical Capabilities

Expertise in classical statistical methods such as regression, proportional hazards, sensitivity/specificity analyses, simulation modeling, to produce high-quality results.

Tracking data quality, trial progress, and compliance, giving investigators and safety monitoring boards clear view of progress and results.

Producing publication-ready results, tables, figures, and supporting documentation for hundreds of manuscripts and presentations

Developing algorithms and software programs including clinical trial randomization tools to eliminate selection bias in trials.

Operations Support

Web application development to support DCP operations.

IMS provides the design, development, and hosting capabilities to deliver high-quality digital products that support DCP programs and internal business operations.

Web & App Development

Clinical Trial Management Systems

These clinical trial management systems support research site and personnel rosters, accrual monitoring, budget planning, protocol tracking, document workflows, and reporting. They give program leaders a coordinated view of study activity and performance.

Operational Dashboards and Tools

IMS develops internal business dashboards bringing together clinical trial, grant, budget, and personnel information for DCP leadership. Additional tools support travel approvals, collaboration, project administration, and other essential division operations.

Application and Fellowship Platforms

These platforms support fellowship and research applications with multiple cycles, reminders, notifications, and external review processes.

  • The PREVENT Application System supports submission and peer review of applications for the PREVENT Cancer Preclinical Drug Development Program. The system furthers DCP's goal to fund innovative ideas in cancer prevention.
  • Train At NCI supports recruitment, review, matching, and applicant communications for NCI training programs, including DCP’s Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program.

Web Communications

IMS develops accessible, secure public websites aligned with client branding and content needs. We advance DCP's digital outreach and communication priorities through design, development, and hosting of division's primary website, as well as program sites and their intranet.

Security & Privacy

Secure, federally authorized hosting for DCP research data.

IMS services supporting DCP research and operations comply with applicable federal clinical research, security, and privacy requirements. DCP data and applications are hosted in the NCI-authorized IMS secure computing center.
